A NEW DAY

I sat, staring through the pitch-black night.
Far in the distance the darkness began to change to gray,
And I could see the faint outline of the uneven broken horizon.
The shades of gray slowly turned to waves of purple sky,
And then to rippling waves of pink.
I watched in awe as a small dot of orange appeared,
And finally rose in full majesty.
A new day had begun.

Thank you, Lord, for this new day,
And all your mercies that begin afresh.
Help me be the beacon of light
That shines through the darkness,
To guide others safely to you.
The majestic Son that shines eternally,
So they might experience this new day too.
