DELIVERING GOOD NEWS

As I deliver my mail from day to day,
I watch my patrons as they
Grow old and wither away.
I see the little ones born
To take their place in this society.

I deliver to them each day
Letters from family and friends
That they eagerly anticipate,
And the bills and junk mail
That they have come to hate.

As I deliver them the mail to be read,
I have a message of my own to spread.

I share with them The Good News of our savior
Who came to earth
To transform our thoughts and behavior.
And though I don’t work to earn a pay raise,
I look forward to these words of praise:

On the final day that I arrive
At heaven’s gate and the Lord shall say,
"Well done thy good and faithful servant,
Thou didst truly deliver the Good News."
